First Wedding Video

Hey guys,

Got the chance to shot my first wedding video. I did this for a friend completely free because it was my first time. I think it turned out alright to be honest. But the reason I did it was to learn, and that I did. It was a great experience. And to my surprise I got a great response. I got a few people wanting to do videos with me and i got 2 weddings for next year. So moral of the story is go out, mess up, learn, and proceed.

actually in the making of a wedding-video too, I would love to see yours.. unfortunately, your post shows a preview (bride sitting on grooms lap), but hitting Play just tells "Video not avail'.

I assume, it is set in its YT-setting to 'private' not 'public' ... (??)

This should give you the video as the first result. If not just look for that thumbnail of the bride in the grooms lap. Sorry for the inconvenience

copying the URL from your post here, it says again 'Not avail'

could be an issue with music-rights, there's one German interest group (GEMA), acting like an official government organization, 'banning' anything, due to a contract-dispute with YT, how much YT should pay for music-rights to this group... When "Gangnam Style" was hyped 2y ago, the official video was NOT avail in Germany ... We celebrated our Unification Day yesterday, but some companies do replace communist dictators very well ......... :silly:

But thanks for the interest. And good luck with your video! Make sure you get some good audio on your video and plenty of smiles in 60fps for slow motion. And try to tell the full story from start to finish. (Something I wasn't able to capture as well as I wanted)

No, it has nothing to do with 'commercial vs. private', it is just about 'publishing': when you purchase some music, you don't get the rights to publish it, you don't 'own' the music! And Youtube IS a publication, like a radio-station. That's what's it all about. Radio stations pay some 'publication fee' to copyright-owners. That's easy in US, GB, F, J ... but still under debate in this tiny boondocks called Germany.

Audio was - as always! - an issue, due to 'no access to the mixers', so all 'speeches' have really cheap sound. Most stuff is atmo + music anyhow.

There's a fragment of the video avail on my google-drive, to avoid trouble on YT - that is work-in-progress, 2 weeks old, meanwhile the balloons fly IN FRONT of the title, some shake is reduced, some more color-corrections.. Was uploaded for other needs than here at fcp.co ....

The whole thing is/will be very long, too long, but couple asked for an 'extended-all speeches included-cut' ... <yawn>.

That endless intro has a simple reason: The bride came 30min late! And the video-team was just me - so I was with the groom, while the bride was stuck in a traffic jam...

Speaking of 'end'
As all weddings, it ended with dancing people in the dark ... what is imho a 'sad', or at last a boring ending (sweaty people flapping arms); so, I'm actually editing a 'What happened also', an out-take sequence... that's fun!
