mObject & Trapcode - Cinematic Plane Test was created by thefcpxeditor
I decided to create this little test to see how well mObject would work for semi-realistic 3D animation. Now, to be honest I know very little about 3D or animation but I think that is just a testament to how simple this plugin is to use. Still it was a lot of work for a relatively short clip. Makes you appreciate visual effects people. Hope you enjoy!
Workflow:
The plane and scenery were imported into Motion 5 via the MoitonVFX mObject plugin. The camera and model animation were done there. The clouds that you first fly out of were also done with particle emitters in Motion 5.
For the rain/snow effect I wanted a little more control so I exported the animation from Motion 5 and brought it into After Effects. There, I used Trapcode Particular to create the rain/snow and animated it to match the camera moves the best I could. I also did some color grading to darken up the scene.
I then went back to Motion 5 and finished off the color/grain with Magic Bullet Looks. I added some camera shake with the wiggle behavior to add a bit of realism. I also added the widescreen matte.
Finally, I brought it into FCP X and added the sound effects and music and did a stereo mix on the effects. I also added a bloom (Blowout) effect for the lightning at this point as a last minute extra.
