Great audio track as a foundation to build on, dulcimer tones from your singer. Visually, I enjoyed it. Your use of the vignetting worked well, & the colorization seemed to fit perfectly. There’s one closeup with a wooden gun stock near his face that appears blood red, which was a bit much. Actually the video made me rather sad. The combination of the pure haunting quality of the vocals with the harsh reality of military rifles. To think that in this world there are still places where baby faced boys must kill one another. Heartbreaking really. The lad doing the back handsprings looked little more than a child.

The juxtaposition of brutal weapons, blossoming trees & lovely mountain scenes must seem foreign to most Westerners. The message seems to be that they are freedom fighters of some sort, & hope to bring their Zogam government to power soon. God only knows how much bloodshed that will take. Alas, this kind of horror is far too common throughout Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Central & South America, where boys are snatched from their families, often forced to kill their own so they are bonded to their new “family” thru bloody trauma. Of course, in the West we use slick advertising to recruit for similar reasons.

Filmmakers often aspire to lofty ideals, seeking to raise awareness & support for the downtrodden, but almost anyone can become sucked into the ideology & believing their side is worth killing for. Tragic, because it never ends.

Anyway, back to your film work…

You drift out of sync in a couple of spots, his mouth is not moving at the same time as the vocals. On a positive note, I really like your intermittent use of a falling sparkly white grain or film wear look, & I’d say you display sensitive restraint by not overusing it. Perhaps you can share the name of that filter for others who appreciate it.

We understand the purpose & pay for the project came from the pro Zogam government crowd, but the Coming Soon symbol emblazoned on the screen was the biggest detraction for me. Now that I think about it, who is that banner for? I mean, the people that this video is directed to, speak the language, understand the message of the lyrics, surely an English banner would be wasted on them. All the comments under the youtube vid are in the native tongue.

Also, for the style of singing, the guitar solo in the middle went on too long (by about half) to be enjoyable.

Nice work on the video.

Thanks for the comment and suggestion. This video was shot after tracking the remote hideout(somewhere in Indo Burma Border) of the so called 'ZOMI REVOLUTIONARY ARMY" The armed wing of thr ZOMI Re-Unification Army fighting for the liberation and Re-Unification of the ZO(pronounced ZOU) ethnic tribes known to the outside world as CHIN-KUKI-MIZO,The Zo people or Zomi are scattered in North East India(Manipur,Mizoram,Nagaland) and Chin State,Sagaing Division in Myanmar/Burma.They are predominently Christian.
Back to the Video....After tracking the remote rugged terrain carrying my bagpacks under the rain I was totally exhausted....In fack It was impossible to use tripod.I adjusted the manual exposure while shooting since the the sky was murky and raining. In fact the sun came out in the afternoon when we almost finished shooting and ready to go.It was shot in a single day!ha3

I edited this video using FCP X.03...in fact it was my FCP X Debut...I have been usng FCP Studio 3 Vegas Pro 11/12 for about a year now.
Eagerly looking forward to other comment and suggestion.
