FCPX and CatDV was created by MonsterJan
Hi!
I'm doing some research on how the collaboration between FCPX and CatDV works since our company have a huge CatDV database and the compatibility is a must in our search for a replacement for FCP7.
Does anyone have any experience working with CatDV and FCPX? My main concern is that I can't seem to fully understand the FCP mapping in CatDV and how that relates to FCPX. The metadata from CatDV (except filenames and markers) doesn't translate to FCPX's metadata-system.
Any information or links would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Jan,
Have you taken a look at www.squarebox.com/tutorial-move-from-final-cut-7-to-x/
CatDV supports integration with FCP7, X, Premiere and now Media Composer, plus anything else that talks FCP7 XML so I'd hope we can fit with your new NLE !
and does that help ?

I'd seriously look at Cantemo, also.

I thought I read that link throughly, but I must have missed the part where it says ".., but other metadata (such as reel number, description, label, angle, marker category, and CatDV user-defined fields) is not supported in the .fcpxml file format at this time.
Which basically means that my FCP Field Mappings (originally meant for FCP7) doesn't translate to FCPX, as far as I can tell. Unless something has changed in CatDV 10?

I checked out these companies during NAB Show 2013, and what I found was that CatDV has some serious bugs and is quite a bit behind in developing support for FCP X. Cantemo is a MUCH better alternative. Very aggressively keeping up to date with FCP X. IMHO, a far superior product.

Hi
There is some documetation here that explains the metadata support with FCP X and CatDV.
support.squarebox.com/wordpress/exchanging-metadata-with-fcp-x/
CatDV sends all your built in and logged metadata from CatDV to FCP X.
Hope this helps
