Hi, I have a track for a wedding with a lot of background noise. The settings to improve audio on FCPX are not helping much. What's the bets solution to improve voice and reduce background noise?

Thanks

Depends on your budget but Adobe Audition has some pretty serious audio restoration tools that take care of hum, background noise, digital clips, etc..
iZotope RX 2 is another good one for cleaning audio.

On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the loudest, 1 being the most quiet, how would you rate the level of the noise, and the level of the voice, in your clips?

Soundtrack Pro in my opinion also gives much better results than FCP X built in tools. I would guess that it's the same technology, but maybe because of the ability of manually setting a noise print first, or maybe because of other reasons, but I really don't get good results from the Remove Background Noise feature in FCP X. I sent feedback about this to Apple, and I said, if it's the same technology as from Soundtrack Pro, maybe add the feature of setting your own noise print.

The "setting your own noise print" is the same feature that AmadeusPro has in their Denoise effect. You first sample just the noise, then it eliminates it throughout the entire track you've selected.

They call it "The Swiss Army Knife of sound editing."

Which might mean it can help you eat a lot of chocolate, make fine watches, loosely guard once secret bank accounts, & fortunately never have to go to war.

But I like it.

Izotope RX 2 is awesome. I've used it in post production audio as well as in my edits in FCPX and it works great. Great product for a good price.

It's pretty noisy, maybe a 7. It's from the San Francisco city hall.

Thanks

You'll be able to reduce noise that loud, but doubtful you'll kill it totally. iZotope RX is great, but expensive for most indie editors. Check in to Audacity and other cheaper alternatives.

Yep, the audio fixing tools in FCP X really lack compared to what we used to have in STP. They barely do the job at all.
