We caught up Kenneth Tang Laerke from Irudis at the recent BVE Show in London. He gave us some news on the plugin Tonalizer VFX, the company and he also offered our readers 35% discount until the end of the week.

When we first saw Tonalizer from Irudis, we were not aware of the founders' previous company and its products. Michael Johnsson and Kenneth Tang Laerke had run Pixmantec, a digital imaging software company that was acquired by Adobe in 2006.

So having developed products in still image processing, video seemed the next logical choice, especially with Final Cut Pro X creating hundreds of thousands of potential new customers. We were impressed by the companies desire to bring its high end photographic style image processing into the hands of all editors, even those on a tight budget. They seem very dedicated and focused and are open to all feedback about the product.

Since we broke the news of the plugin to the FCP community back in December, Irudis have released an update, the cuurent version now standing at 1.1.1. It now contains a Detail Sharpener for enhancement of fine details and CineStyleâ„¢ LUT support for pre-grading using the Technicolor CineStyleâ„¢ picture style profile for Canon EOS DSLR cameras.

"We have received significant feedback from early users who are impressed with the ease of use, functions and results they are achieving with Tonalizer|VFXâ„¢, explains Kenneth. It appears that our vision to create a new category of video editing products fills a void in the market from a broad range of videographers, post-production pros, digital photographers and even cinematographers.

There have also been a few customer videos posted online demoing the plugin, this shows the highlight rescue function. (Yes it does start on a white frame!)

Kenneth has very kindly offered all FCP.co readers a 35% discount on Tonalizer VFX by entering the coupon code FCPCOFEB12. The code is good until the end of the week, March the 4th 2012.

The plugin has received some good reviews too, checkout Larry Jordans review who summed up by saying "If you want precise, detailed, and subtle control over the look of your image, combined with the ability to guard against out-of-spec highlights, you need to check into Tonalizer."

Kenneth also told us about some exciting new products in the pipeline, but we've been sworn to secrecy so you'll have to come back when hopefully we'll be the first to break the news again!
