Some hot news that's not off the NAB show floor. Automatically track and censor faces within FCPX, Motion, Adobe After After Effects and Premiere with the new Secret Identity plugin. We are impressed, very impressed.
If you have ever worked in news or documentaries, you will have burnt many precious hours away censoring out faces. The new Secret Identity plugin from Dashwood Cinema Solutions does it all with a couple of clicks. If you ever have to do this on a regular basis, this is a complete no-brainer purchase.
For a limited time over NAB, the plugin is available for $79, discounted down from $99.
So with a personal apology from Tim for the fake British accent, this video runs through the plugin features in a very amusing fashion!
We got a hint from Tim a while ago that face detection was possible within the Mac OS and suggested to him that a censoring plugin using that technology would make a great product.
Well he's done exactly that and we have to say it's one of the most impressive and useful things we have seen on the plugin market for a while. A good candidate for plugin of the year 2014.
As you have seen from the video, it looks super easy to use and does a lot more than just blurring out faces.
The plugin is installed via FxFactory and isn't built in Motion, which means it will run in FCPX, FCP7 (yes 7) Motion and Adobe's After Effects & Premiere. You will also need to be running Mountain Lion or Mavericks and the 10.1 version of FCPX. Sorry PC users, not for you.
Tim's also put together a walkthrough video showing Secret Identity in Action.
