In the first of our publications of the video presentations from the LumaForge Faster Together Stage, Michael Cioni talks about his and our relationships with Apple's products. A great 40 minutes of truth and observations. Grab a coffee, this is well worth watching and will get a lot of views.
There were many great presentations at the Faster, Together Stage during NAB 2017. However, there may not be one more rousing than Michael Cioni’s presentation on Apple and its relationship with the pro market. There was an awesome energy in the room. Ryan Welborn of osmFCPX said, “Man, that was like being at church. Had to hold back an “Amen” a couple [of] times.”
Michael asked the question, “Do I have Stockholm Syndrome with Apple?” With the recent announcement from Apple about the upcoming MacPro, many Apple fans rejoiced. Michael posts that now is the time to gather the crowd and push for Apple to tend to the needs of the post production professional.
When an HP Z840 can be configured with Terabytes of RAM, 22-Core processors, multiple graphics cards with 24GB of VRAM each, and 10G Ethernet connectivity, it is time for Apple to up its game for the Pro Market. The 2017 MacPro maxes out at 64GB of RAM, 12-Core processors, a total of 12GB of graphics VRAM, and 1G Ethernet. Apple can, and should, do better.
In this presentation, Michael lays out a plan for how Apple fans can work together to help Apple move the needle forward. Considering Apple’s public appearance at LACPUG in November, NAB in April, and their recent announcement, it looks as though they may actually be listening. Now is the time to encourage them as a collective.
