In case any comes across this thread.

It looks like I have resolved this by deleting as many unused plug-ins as possible. It had nothing to do with external applications.

It seems the wild west of plug ins being forgotten and with unstable builds with newer versions of FCPX will always be there.

Thanks so much.

Yeah, think it's time for some house cleaning. Will get FCPX to its most vanilla state, good practice anyway.

Appreciate the info.

Great reply Joema.

Also been wondering if a plug-in might be causing this. Do you know if CoreMelt, CrumplePop, Dashwood or Pixels Film Studios can cause these issues.

I assume they all open with FCP and run services in the background. Going to remove as much as I can, don't ever get notifications to update 3rd party plug-ins would have been great to have that feature.

Will also look at re-installing Catalina... will probably be awhile before moving over to Big Sur to make sure FCPX is happy on the new Mac OS.

Hi so not finding any love from the Apple forums.

I have this issue when I render the timeline I am getting loads of green artefacts, FCPX crashing, iMac crashed 4 times now... I have deleted the preferences several times, done a safe boot to sort out any other system issues, re-installed FCPX but it still persists. Really irritating. I can pull the XML in Resolve but sadly not all the info translates like the colour corrections and grade.

Does anyone know how FCPX renders the footage, creating the "temporary" media? I have followed the same work flow for many years with no issues. This happens on different kinds of media including FCP generated titles etc. I know it is the render that's an issue, when I slightly change a clip to remove the render and re-render that render if fine.

Wish I had more control over this?

It might be worth trying Bootcamp and use Windows. I am on Mac OS everywhere but have Windows installed for any small bits I need now and again.

Once your footage is digitized you can step back into Mac OS, it's just a re-boot.

Thanks, yes I was thinking of that but they do actually fore fill a function so was really hoping to keep markers as markers.

Hi there.

So I prefer FCPX by far for my edits but I also cut in Avid and Premier when I need to on different projects. What I do miss from Avid thou is having the option of having different colours for your markers making it very easy for me to identify different sections in an interview etc.

I know I can mark clips as Favourites or Rejected and label each marker and use the index to find all these but often in a long interview where the person rambles and jumps between topics I would like to mark the sections that deal with a certain topic in a yellow marker which I can instantly pick-up on when I return to the older timeline.

Does anyone know of a plug-in that could do this in FCPX?

Many thanks.

Thanks. I was hoping to have some kind of way to see absolute timecode not linked to clip. I cut in both Avid and Premier but way prefer FCPX by far but it's just a pity that the option does not exist.

Tommy created a new topic ' No Modifier Button for Changing Clip Source Timecode' in the forum. 12 months ago

Hi there

So with sequences it's really easy to change the parameters but I don't see the same modify button with the source clips I have. I have gone through all the options in the inspector and the meta data options and I can de-interlace etc but not change the source timecode.

I need to do this from a MotionVFX template I am using and trying to time the compound clips to work with the templates duration. At the moment it's trial by error situation and is very time consuming.

I would also like to stay in FCP X with the project already having quite a lot of work done on it.

Any ideas, your help would be appreciated.

Hi there.

I have not updated my Coremelt products in forever but for the life of me I can't find which version I have installed in FCPX so I can compare with the latest products on the Coremelt website.

Does anyone know to easily see which version you have installed?

Hi there.

Thanks for this, I was hoping it would do that but it seems to copy them across. I have the same issue with my camera's MXF files and leave in place when importing, copies and doubles up on the media - sigh. But will give it a bash, will definitely look into FCP Library Manager.
