This is a known bug with 10.4.9 and it's not related to any OS version. It also occurs when running 10.4.9 with the latest dev version of Big Sur.

Rewrapping externally prior to importing, or converting to optimized or proxy (LT) media inside FCP X after importing, is the current workaround.

Make sure to file a bug report.

I can confirm this happens with 10.4.9 on Mojave and on Big Sur. Not a dealbreaker, but it's annoying that you have to click three times. Bug report.

The broadcast safe filter has no influence on the color space of a project. When you select "Rec 601" in the broadcast safe filter, the filter will apply broadcast safe settings that are the best fit for a Rec 601 project, that's all. If your project is set to Rec 709, the exported file will always be Rec 709.

Ronny Courtens replied to the topic 'Is "Original Media" Folder Contents Necessary?' in the forum. 4 months ago

Hi Shiva,

As Tom says, the Original Media folder is absolutely necessary.

There is no reason to create both optimized media and proxy media, that's a waste of drive space. If your hardware does not allow you to work with the original media in a smooth way and you don't have enough drive space to create optimized media, just create proxy media and work with these until you need to export. Then you simply switch to original media to export your project at the highest quality.

If you already have created Optimized and Proxy media for this project and you want to delete either the optimized or proxy media, you can do this right inside FCP X with the "File > Delete Generated Media" command. You can do this for the entire Library, or for specific Events in your Library. You NEVER should mess with folders or files inside the Library package using Finder, that is a recipe for disaster.

To be able to apply the Ken Burns effect to a clip, your clip needs to be selected and your playhead needs to be positioned on that clip.

Clip selected but no playhead on the clip: no Ken Burns option.

Hi Joe, welcome to the forums.

With your Library open in FCP X, disclose the triangle next to Smart Collections and select "Projects" from the list (see screenshot). There you will see any project ("timeline") that you have created in this Library. Projects have a clapperboard icon. Double-click the project you need to open it on the timeline.

I agree with FCPX.guru: jumping between different NLEs to edit a project is always a PITA. If your editor is freelance, she should know every NLE that she is asked to work with. Especially if the project has already been started in a certain NLE. If she cannot or won't learn FCP X for consistency on this project, there are thousands of experienced editors looking for a job in these times who will be very happy to jump in.

I also find it incredibly stupid when I see people argue over a piece of software. I will say this once again: this is a help forum, not a discussion forum. Everyone here will be thankful for practical answers based on real-world experience, no-one is interested in guesses or name-calling.

Ronny Courtens replied to the topic 'Cross fade and audio error?' in the forum. 5 months ago

Thanks for the update. As this is not an issue that has been reported anywhere before, and restarting did the trick, we can classify this as an unexpected error. If you still get this issue in the future, you might consider refreshing your FCP X preferences.

Have a great weekend and stay safe!

Hi Dave,

This should not happen. Can you post a screenshot of the issue?

Welcome to the forums!

Export your vector logo as a PNG with transparency, import the PNG in FCP X, put it on your project timeline above any other clips and resize/reposition the logo.
