Actually, what I finally did was open App Store (Mojave) and in the Store Menu chose Reload Page and they appeared. I had no idea that was an option.

All these ideas are good ones. I do a lot of these, only much longer, special occasion (graduation, etc.) vids for family and others. I often do reverse chronological - the kids get younger and cuter, the adults get (often) thinner and better looking. But, since yours is just one year, I'd do the chronological "A Year in the Life..." sort of thing. Or, you could do themes - Family get-togethers, Big life events, trips, sports, hobbies, awards, etc.

If you go the theme route, using different music for each theme helps sell the structure, and be sure to vary the music - don't use two sensitive, sentimental things in a row. Once you get your source footage it will probably become evident what approach will best suit the content.

And, even though it's a small family piece, use all the FCPX organizational tools - favorites, keywords, etc. It's perfect for this sort of thing and is definitely worth the relatively small amount of time it takes. I use Apple Photos to organize all the stills into Albums, which can then be accessed directly from FCPX.

And, of course, be hugely selective. Most events really just need to have a brief reminder that they occurred, then a focus on a few special, unique moments.

Good luck - these are fun to do!

I did try Toast - it didn’t fully work. See my initial post for details. Thanks though.

David Dixon created a new topic ' Two projects on a single blu ray?' in the forum. 2 years ago

Hi,

Is there a way to burn a BD-R from FCPX that has two videos (Projects) on it?

I've read a suggestion to paste the second video into the timeline of the first and set the second video as Chapter 2 - not what I want.

I tried selecting the two Projects in the Browser and choosing Share/ Blu Ray but nothing happens.

Anybody use Toast? I have the latest version and it successfully burns a disc with 2 movies that will play fine on a computer, but in the blu ray burner on my hdtv the title screen is black. I can even blindly navigate with my blu ray player remote and by trial and error select and play both videos, but that's of course not acceptable.

I even tried doing the blu ray from Compressor, but even in the batch window it makes each video a separate blu ray.

Any other suggestions before I give up and just make two BD-Rs?

Thanks!

Jonathan - earlier you mentioned that the Sony Z90 is one camera you are considering, and you also mentioned XAVC-L and XAVC-I. Assuming you meant the latter to be an uppercase I ("eye") rather than a lowercase L, I just wanted to mention that I own the X70, and it does not shoot XAVC-I, just XAVC-L. I'm pretty certain the Z90 is the same way.

It's all tradeoffs. On the X70 I can have an excellent Clear Image Zoom extended range, 60fps, and 10-bit 4:2:2 -- but only if I shoot HD. In 4K I get more detail, butI'm limited to 8-bit 4:2:0, only 30fps, and less extended zoom range. The Canon camera you mentioned does 4K 60fps, but will not do 4:2:2 or 10 bit color in any internal mode.

Either way, the Z90 is a nice upgrade from the X70, and is a leading camera in this niche of the market (under $3K camcorders with 1" sensors).

Good luck!

Ah, rename the Clip Angle, not the Clip Name - and I assume you mean do that before creating the multicam clip, as when i do it now it doesn't change anything.

Thanks!

I don't use multicam much, but did three 2-camera interviews this week. The first two worked flawlessly. The A Camera got all three interviews on one card, thus one clip per interview. On the third interview, my B camera ran out of memory on its first card so the relay record put the rest of the interview is on a second card so I have two clips for Camera B for the third interview..

When I select all three clips (1 from CamA and 2 from CamB) it only recognizes one of the clips from CamB. It correctly syncs that one to the long Cam A clip. After some searching I tried renaming the CamA clip to Angle1 and both of the two CamB clips to Angle 2 - no change. I also tried setting Timecode to 0 in the Multicam setup window - no difference. I'm telling it to use audio for the syncing, which worked on the other two interviews.

What do I need to do?
Thanks!

David Dixon replied to the topic 'Photos library with FCPX' in the forum. 3 years ago

Another option is to create multiple Photos libraries. You could make a separate one for a project with just the photos you want to use. You can switch between the libraries several different ways. The only caveat is that FCPX can only see one of them - the one currently designated as the "System" Photos library. This can also be switched. easily though.

For only $30, why not just buy that set from LenoFX? You'd get a whole slew of great items that would be infinitely usable. They are very customizable, and you wouldn't have to spend time creating them yourself.

And for what it's worth, iDVD still works just fine in Sierra with one exception: over time (and various OS updates) some of the fancier animated DVD Menu choices have gradually broken. There are still quite a few that work, but you'll need to test them to make sure which ones you can still use.

It does have arrows. The straight line and curved line markers can have "end caps" of four different choices, separately selected. So you could have single or double headed arrows. This is a shockingly deep and useful tool, done as a Title.

So I guess the upshot is if you have both, you may find that each has strengths in varying circumstances.

However, as a user of MorphCut since the week of its introduction, I'm not sure either product is really meant to work adequately across a cut that has this much difference between the subject position from clip to clip.

Scroll down to Drivers & Downloads and click on "Software"

There is still a plugin and it was actually updated as recently as December. That should fix you up.

I haven't kept current on this, but a couple of years ago when I still used an XF100, an additional plugin from Canon was required. Is this still the case?

Hmm - AutoBalance (CrumplePop) works fine for me. Can't remember for sure but I think I got an update for that back in the summer - I'd check with them on that.
