OK, I think I got it working.

1 - I moved the library to my internal sad drive.

2 - Removed the original media folder

3 - Updated library (all media missing at this point)

4 - Relinked all media to the folder I removed

5 - Moved library to external drive and consolidated

6 - Deleted original media folder still on my internal SSD

7 - Seems to be working

Thanks for all the help/ideas !

I'll try that this morning. yesterday I just dropped the original media folder back inside the updated library, but it wouldn't open. Same problem with the memory availability.

I tried closing everything but the one library - still no luck.

It is a managed library - all files inside.

I tried removing the original file folder (on a copy library) and it updated fine, just with all the media missing links. Is it possible to relink everything after that? Or would it just cause me problems down the line?

Thanks,

JT

16GB. I got the top end pro with 1tb SSD. I've tried restarting a couple of times. The library worked fine on the last version of FCPX. All my other libraries have updated just fine. Also, no projects in this library, just media assets.

Thanks,

Taylor

Using the latest version of FCPX and a new MacBook Pro with toucher. Library is on an external raid with plenty of space available. My internal SSD has 600G available. Starts the process and then gives the error?

Any ideas?

The files will ingest just fine, but my system always slows by a noticeable amount. It's been an ongoing problem for me. I've spent the last two years working with AVCHD files from sony handicams. Usually 5 to 6 angle mulitcam clips. Never had good luck with them. As soon as I run them through ClipWrap everything is smooth. I think it's just my setup. I've been desperately wanting to upgrade to a new 15 MacBook Pro with graphics card, but intel hasn't been cooperating! Hopefully soon!!!

My final projects will be 720p for the internet. So I want to keep the files small. I've tried both AVCHD and MP4 on my system and the MP4's seem to work a little smoother. I had to convert the AVCHD files with ClipWrap to get usable results. I don't want to go through that process, so 60p MP4 should work jus fine.

Thanks again everyone!

@mobiletaylor you might consider recording the uncompressed HDMI output if you have an external recorder such as BMD Video Assist, Shogun or Atomos recorders. Outstanding quality but very large files.

I'm going to be using a C100 Mark II for an upcoming project. I need a little bit of slow motion. The entire project will be in a 24P timeline. It looks like I have three options to shoot 60P:

1 - AVCHD 60P
2 - MP4 60P
3 - MP4 special slow & fast setting

I'd like to stay with MP4 files. Is there any benefit to shooting the slow & fast setting? Or would dropping the 60P on the timeline and selecting automatic speed be better?

Thanks for any help with this,

James

The only reason I could see saving the card intact is if you want to be able to import a portion of a clip. So you don't need to save the entire clip for just a small section. But I'm guessing you need to keep all the files anyways?

ButchM,

So does EditReady actually transcode the files? The thing I like about ClipWrap is that it just wraps the clips - it is incredibly fast! I assume EditReady is slower because it transcodes? Is that correct?

Jeff,

Not sure about shortening clips. Except to export the edited highlights from FCPX as prorez files.

However, just wanted to mention that my Mac has problems with mts files if I import a lot of them. Really nice app called ClipWrap fixes all that. The app wraps the files in an mov container. Really fast to do that. Then I import those files and my machine is much happier!

Solved

I had some audio files that FCPX didn't like. Converting them to WAV files fixed the issue.

I was having some problems with .mp3 files in one of my events. I used Compressor to convert everything to wav files with the same names. is it possible to relink the folder at one time? or will I have to relink all 1300 files one-by-one? im trying to keep my keywards.

thanks,

So I went through the project again, and every library asset is fine except one. There are a mixture of .mp3 and wav files in the library. So I'm thinking of converting all the audio files to a new format and re-linking them. Are there some type of audio files that FCPX does not like?

I have a master library for most of my assets. Went in to look at something today and realized one of my events is partially corrupted? About half the audio files don’t show a waveform and won’t play any sound. Some of them cut off halfway through? If I select the clip and reveal in finder they play just fine. Anyone seen anything like this?

Thanks,

Are you resizing in the angle editor or the project?
