Tim Palmer-Benson created a new topic ' Macpro 5.1 and SugarFX Revolve 360' in the forum. 1 year ago

I would like to know if a Macpro 5.1 configured as this is just as powerful as a $5000 iMac. I am asking because I want to run the Sugar FX Revolve plug in without it bogging down my machine. Here is my current config:2-core Mac Pro 5,1
2 x 3.46GHz Xeon Processors
32GB (8 x 4GB) 1333MHz Memory
Nvidia GTX 980Ti card.
1TB SSD - with AIC PCIe upgrade option
Three 2TB 7200rpm hard drives (installed in SATA bays 2-4; bay 1 open)
Apple RAID Card
SuperDrive
WiFi + Bluetooth
macOS 10.13 High Sierra
I want to know if I changed the video card to a GTX 1080 8GB will be enough to make it work like I saw on MacBreak Studio several months ago.

Thanks for your response....with that GTX card, do you know whether it works with the new operating system Mojavi...I have been careful not to upgrade because there seems no upgrade available yet for the video card

I think there is a lot of misunderstanding about editing 360 video. and a lot of hype For example, I refused to bow to the marketing mavens and instead bought a souped up 2012 Mac Pro (something I can take apart and modify unlike the stuff you buy now and then throw away because its almost impossible to fix or update) My machine is lightning fast with its solid state drives and the fastest processor setup available for a Macro. It renders really fast and handles 8 K 360 video from an Insta360 Pro and the Insta 360 One X without hiccups once the mp4 is converted to Pro Res. I posted my question because I was having difficulty editing a video so that the viewing orientation was maintained properly in each clip. I have since learned that you have to follow Ripple Trainnin's tutorial series to the letter if you want success. I was trying to short cut some of the editing workflow! I am very happy with the result. You can do everything that Premier is claimed to do and more and you don't have to pay a monthly fee!

The Specs on my machine are as follows
12 core 2 x 3.46GHz Xeon Processors
32GB (8 x 4GB) 1333MHz Memory
GTX 980Ti 6GB card
1TB SSD - with AIC PCIe upgrade option
Three 2TB 7200rpm hard drives (installed in SATA bays 2-4; bay 1 open)
Apple RAID Card
SuperDrive
WiFi + Bluetooth
macOS 10.13 High Sierra
All for less than $3,000

I even edited off the raid drives and not the SSD
Here is my little movie that I made from the One X after importing its stitched mp4 video.youtu.be/HsFm7_3tF3A

What are people's experiences with editing 360 video in FCP X...I have two problems with it.
First is that when editing a 360 video FCP doesn't seem to maintain the angle of view throughout the edit. Either this is a bug or I am doing something wrong, but when I set an angle for one clip then move on tow several others in the same movie and adjust their angle of view, it changes the angle of view in the first editing instance!

Second, when I uploaded my video to You Tube and Vimeo, the angle of view displayed is different to what iI chose. What is the reason for this? I think it is my mistake but i don't know what I did to make it do this.

You need to first decode/stitch with the Insta software.

Tim Palmer-Benson created a new topic ' Bizarre Pluraleyes behavior with FCPX X10.1' in the forum. 7 years ago

Pluraleyes 3.3 continues to have xml problems with FCPX. In the latest version of both apps, Pluraleyes seems unable to import itself correctly into an Event. It asks you twice where to import its synchronized xml file, then is unable to create a multi cam project correctly. Instead, it asks you to import the file twice, then shows an empty multi cam project in one file and an angle editor presentation in the other. Only after clicking at various locations on the apparently blank muticam time does it show that there are mulicam clips. Has anyone else noticed this bizarre behavior?
