I need help figuring out how to do these super smooth fast forward edits...

It's way different then remapping the timing on the clips right?... Can somebody point me in the right direction? I really can't seem to figure it out.

Of course I need super steady shots, but does this have to do with getting the right clips (do I need longer clips between object to object) or can they mostly be done with post-production editing?

For reference:

At about 4:24ish... He has them throughout the video if that one reference isn't good enough.

Thanks for the help in advance, I really appreciate it.

.. imho, that is a simple ramping of speed plus motion blur:

you need a clip, camera moves from car A to car B, with constant speed, soft moves, no shakes, use a mechanical stabilizer on set .....

in FCPX, you select a part of the clip and increase speed 2x, 4x ...

FCPX will automatically ramp the speed from 100% to 400% and back to normal.

additionally, add Motion Blur, I made a free plugin for that purpose, in our depository:

... nice cars, by the way ;)

You can control the speed ramps in FCPX via the speed transition areas, also. There's a lot of customizing of speed ramps in that video.
