Long story short, I was messing around with original media files in finder (I know, I shouldn't), and now I need to relink a clip to its original media file. I've placed the original file (the exact same one as before) back in the Original Media folder (which is located in my FCP library). However, when I go to relink, FCP searches the selected library and doesn't locate it. I'm unable to select the file myself of course because I can't right click on the library to "Show Package Contents" within FCP. I am however able to successfully relink the media with the file when I place the file outside of the library where it can be selected. This said, I want to be able to keep all of my original media files within my library.

Relink to the external file and then use the consolidate function to copy it into the library bundle.

Thanks a ton. I wasn't aware of this tool. Not only did it fix my problem, but now I have a bunch of other media organized in the same location as well.
