Hi Guys,

Putting together a series of video blogs and I'm getting tiny little clicks and pops when I cut from a scene to the next. It's quite distracting. Does anyone know what I can do to get rid of this. I'm making loads of fast cuts.

I can put in a clear dissolve and set a very quick duration, but this is obviously not ideal.

Any help would - as always - be gratefully received.

Thank you,
Phil

One way is dragging the audio fade handles laterally on either side of the clip: www.peachpit.com/articles/article.aspx?p=1879718&seqNum=2

In the first item in this video, Steve Martin discusses how FCPX could use improvements in this area:

Yeah, you're cutting on transients in the audio. Either trim them out or use fades.

Do these clips have audio enhancement enabled, such as Loudness, Background Noise Removal, or Hum Removal?

Hi Phil
It is very easy to create Audio Only Cross Fades using Motion or there are several already created for free.
See this MBS vid by Mark Spenser…

Actual process for creating the effect starts around 4:20. What he doesn't show is that you can also set the duration prior to publishing so you have a short duration.
You can also start with the standard Cross Fade effect and Open in Motion to do this too.
Alex4D has a free version that has some additional controls here.… blog.alex4d.com/2011/07/11/fcpx-transition-sound-only/

Finally you can highlight all the clips to apply to and double click the effect or you can add as a default effect by right clicking the effect and make default.

Hope this helps, Greg
