One of the features lacking in FCPX is the ability to save favourite effects just like our much loved FCP7 was able to. This new episode of MacBreak Studio shows us a workaround that works, for the majority of the time anyway.

One trick we had when editing on FCP7 was the ability to save multiple modified effects into folders that could be dropped onto clips. If the individual clips were numbered then they could be applied in the right order too. Very clever and a real time saver.

You can't do that in FCPX, not even with one effect, dam! All is not lost as in this new episode of MacBreak Studio, Mark Spencer shows Steve Martin a workaround on how to save individual effects that have been tweaked.

This method works for the majority of effects in FCPX, i.e. those that have been constructed in Motion5. It won't work for the effects that have been coded and thus won't open in Motion. An alternative to this would be constructing a project that contained a timeline of all your favourite effects, generators e.t.c. Grandmother & eggs, we know.

If you would like to know more, then Steve Martin has produced a training programme for FCPX that includes the 10.0.6 and 10.0.7 updates.
