Macbreak Studio track points motion

It seems simple to track a point in Motion and attach an object, right? Wrong, it's not as simple as you think and there are many gotchas along the way. Hopefully this MacBreak Studio will save some of the pain encountered when you try to link things together.

We have built effects in Motion using the Track Points behaviour. It has had us almost in tears as it's not the simplest thing to configure, especially when you have more than one in a project and have OSCs attached on top of those.

In this week's episode of MacBreak Studio, Mark Spencer starts off by talking about the introduction video from this year's Worldwide Developer Conference in San Francisco.

Using that video as inspiration, Mark decided to see if he could achieve some of the same effects in Apple's motion. In this week's episode of MacBreak Studio he shows Steve Martin how to build a rotating object using a shape, images and of course that Track Points behaviour.

Some really good tips this episode, not only will it spark off some creative ideas, it will also save you a lot of time trying to work out why the tracking isn't working. Trust us, we have been there!

If you would like to know more, Mark has some extensive Motion tutorials at Ripple Training.
