Digital Rebellion have launched Video Space for the iPhone and iPad, a disk space calculator for media storage.
How many times have you had to calculate disk space by looking at an existing file and working out how many MB or GB a minute of video is? This new $2.99 app fom Digital Rebellion will take the guessing out of calculating how big your hard drive or SAN needs to be.
Video Space has got a very simple interface, just enter the total duration of the video, then select a codec, frame size and frame rate at the bottom and the total space will be reported at the top.
Yes there are other space calculators out there and one criticism we would have of the app is that it doesn't take into account the number of audio channels. Having just done a 5 camera multicam edit today with each clip having 8 audios, it would be nice to have more options.
The guys at Digital Rebellion are always open to ideas and are constantly updating their apps, so we'll pass the suggestion along.
