Does anyone have experience setting up a remote editor using a KeyFlow Pro 2 workflow?

My particular question revolves around how do people remotely access a KeyFlow Pro 2 server from a different place on the globe.

Anybody using Back To My Mac ? Can it be that simple to connect to my server at home base?

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

News flash to Mojave users:
Back To My Mac was dropped as an iCloud offering.

Dang, Apple!

There has to be a way to remote into a closed Mac network to access a KeyFlow Pro 2 server.

I use TeamViewer, but you don't get audio. I don't know anything that gives reliable audio. Lag is another issue, so editing is slow when you remote in. Can be done, but not recommended. At least not by me.

Depending on the level of security required, I think of two ways to achieve remote connection:

1- open the ports used by keyflowpro on your router but that's not very safe
2- The best and very safe is to go through a VPN service which you can easily set up on your Keyflowpro server using MacOS Server from the mac app store (about $20.00) it will give you everything you need to achieve this

Thank you, Francois.

That's a huge help in getting us started.

Would you happen to know where I could find a detailed guide on setting that up?

Cheers!

Hi Scottt

You could also look at some of the videos I have in a playlist here:

FCPX collaboration is something that I have been following very closely. Seems very nearly almost doable!

good luck

Wow! Some incredible options here.

Paurray, thank you. I love the PostLab app. Aside from the remote workflow, I plan to test that for our internal workflow! Can save us a lot of the administrative time we're currently using to keep libraries straight across multiple edit stations.

Thank you also, Francois. This is exactly what I was looking for!

It's looking like our remote editing problems will be much easier to solve than we originally feared.

Thanks again, guys!

Scott
