Staying within FCPX, you can only 'gather up and copy media' which isn't ideal. At the recent Faster Together stage at NAB, Chris Steele from Marquis Broadcast demonstrated Worx4 X that copies and trims media saving a lot of disk space.
Subtitles, love them or hate them, they are an essential part of constructing a programme for domestic or international distribution. Jan Willem den Bok has written a plugin that speeds up the process of building subtitles in a show on an FCPX timeline.
Again, like 2016, most of the interesting news for Final Cut Pro users actually happened outside of the NAB show. Coremelt announced two new products that are in beta. Scribeomatic for automatic transcription of dialogue and Chromatic, a colour grading plugin with built-in tracking.
A new app from Marquis Broadcast allows users to media manage FCPX Projects to just the media used on a Project timeline. We take the WORX4 X beta for a quick spin. (Spoiler- We already think it's great)
