Two new tutorials from Ripple this week. We look at replacing an iPad screen with the TrackX plugin and creating alternate storylines in FCPX.
This week on MacBreak Studio, Steve Martin shows Mark Spencer how to replace the screen of an iPad. Pretty clever stuff, the tutorial uses the TrackX plugin from Coremelt. As Mark says, there is no way to actually do this automatically in FCPX at the moment.
A good tutorial that shows how quickly you can replace a moving screen. If you would like to know more, Steve has published his Commercial Editing Techniques tutorial which is on special offer at the moment, down $10 to $29.
Steve returns alone for his five minutes with FCPX, this time he is looking at creating alternate storylines. A great tip, but unfortunately we have found that secondary storylines don't have all the features of the primary storyline. One outstanding beef here is the inability to extend the audio components ahead of the video of the first clip in the storyline.
Also Steve's technique about turning an alternate storyline on and off was used in Thomas Grove Carter's multi award winning commercial for Honda. You can read the full write up on how the commercial was made here: The Other Side.
