SugarFX have updated their Viewfinder HUD (Head Up Display) plugin for Final Cut Pro X. The update brings an extra 50 filters for FCPX users.
More plugins and filter packs are being upgraded to work on Final Cut Pro X as more time ticks away from the release date. There is a growing list of general day to day and specialist plugins on the market now.
SugarFX are a plugin company that use the FxFactory platform for development and delivery. Viewfinder HUD was originally a plugin for FCP7, Motion and After Effects users, but this has now been expanded to include FCPX.
The Viewfinder HUD plugin package is split up into three different types of display as you can see from the graphic on the left.
"Use the Binoculars plug-in to simulate interesting and unusual binocular viewfinders."
"Use the Target filter to promote the focus of your message to the next level."
"Or the Viewfinder OSD [On Screen Display] filter to simulate a familiar video or still camera viewfinder right on your canvas."
This set of plugins looks handy if you need to emulate a Canon 5D viewfinder or possibly want to make your footage look like Arnie's POV in The Terminator. It also wouldn't be the first time here on the FCP.co campus that we have had to make footage appear as if somebody was looking through binoculars.
Priced at $79 they come in under that $100 barrier for plugins that seems to have been erected since FCPX was released. They look a bit more techie than just average overlays so should have a range of uses from simple POV right through to high tech style promos.
