To say that the 5D is getting red carpet treatment in Hollywood might be a bit of an exaggeration, but it was being used at the Oscars build up. Not quite sure about using it for a piece to camera, but thanks to CampusMovieFest for tweeting this picture.

But the big story for the FCP community was The Social Network getting an Oscar for Best Editing. More after the break.

So congratulations to editors Angus Wall and Kirk Baxter for their Best Editing Oscar, and FCP gets the main editing gong for the first time. Find out more about their exploits with David Fincher in Oliver Peters article here.

Interesting that the movie was shot on the RED One, converted to ProRes and edited on FCP.

Also we shouldn't forget the 9 out of 10 nominations in the Documentary Feature and Short Categories where Inside Job and Strangers No More picked up the prizes.
