Two tutorials from the Ripple guys this week, both use 3D. Make a 3D countdown slate in FCPX and build 3D logos in Motion.
It's a Tuesday, so that means we can enjoy the tutorials from Ripple Training. Both videos this week concentrate again on the 3D features in the new 10.2 and 5.2 updates.
We start off with the latest edition of MacBreak Studio. Mark Spencer shows Steve Martin how to build a 3D logo in Motion. As Mark says, there are a few hoops to jump through but at the moment, the font route is the only way to get custom graphics extruded to 3D.
A very cool trick and we really hope that Apple decide to allow 3D graphics in Motion and FCPX directly. That feature along with primitives would make building 3D graphics in Motion very exciting and also get away from the 'postcards in space' problem of other motion graphics programs.
If you would like to learn more, take a look at the Mark's new 3D title Motion tutorial. It is on special offer at $39 for a limited time, reduced down from $49.
Steve Martin returns for his 5 minutes, this time in the driving seat showing us how to add a 3D element to the Apple countdown slate in Final Cut Pro X.
