On the day of the 2015 Oscar presentation ceremony, wouldn't it be good to watch an interview with all the nominees for the Best Film Editing award? The American Cinema Editors (ACE) and Moviola have very kindly published this hour and a half discussion recorded on Saturday featuring those editors in a Q&A session.
Probably by the time you read this, the Oscars for 2015 will be over and everybody will know who won and who lost. On the Saturday before the presentation, ACE held their 15th annual Invisible Art/Visible Artists event. Recorded at the Egyptian there in Los Angeles, they got all six editors on stage to talk about the art of editing. Tom & Sandra have to leave three quarters of the way in, but it's still a great watch.
The nominated editors are:
William Goldenberg, "The Imitation Game"
Barney Pilling, "The Grand Budapest Hotel"
Joel Cox and Gary D. Roach, "American Sniper"
Tom Cross, "Whiplash" (The Winner!)
Sandra Adair, "Boyhood"
A great discussion on our art, featuring clips from the movies too which always helps punctuate the chat.
