We have been itching to post the Youtube tutorial since we saw that Photo Montage, a new add on plugin pack, had been announced when FxFactory upgraded to 2.5.6.
Noise Industries have added a couple of plugins to their successful FxFactory Pro pack of plugins for FCS and After Effects. The poster image isn't that great, but the video is in 720p so hit the play button to checkout how to 'slice'. The video for 'flip' as well as information on Photo Montage is after the break.
If you didn't make the Larry Jordan live webinar recently, no problem as the whole hour has been posted on YouTube. Larry uses FCP7 though so no jaw dropping just yet.
I'm pretty sure he will be using FCP7 for this webinar and not the 'jaw dropping' new version that we are all very keen to see. Nevertheless it will still be packed with information and good tips.

"How to achieve a cartoon look" is always a popular question on the FCP forums. Simon Walker has put together a quick run through of the presets in ToonIt, a cartoon transformation plugin for your footage.
Just as we were turning off our machines for the night, we spotted this. Has Canon let slip the new codec for the 5DmkIII? If so does that mean the end of transcoding clips for FCP?
There are lots of tutorials out there on YouTube but a lot seem to go over the same stuff. So it is nice when you come across original content, well presented and with links. Wes James has posted this rather cool playing card flip tutorial with video on the back. Links to the media after the break. (Oh for high quality YouTube poster frames!)
Most of us won't change out of the standard setting on our Canon 5Ds as we don't have time to experiment with the curves, but this guy has done if for you. Peter Miranda runs through all the 5D profiles, as well as the superflat curve. More after the break including shooting 3D on your 5D
We feel pretty bad about this one as we missed it in the crazy build up to our website's launch. Tim Dashwood of Dashwood Cinema Solutions is not only announcing an upgrade to Stereo3D Toolbox, but he is also unveiling brand new products at NAB 2011 - One of them being Stereo3D Cat.
In this tip Apple Certified Master Trainer Simon Walker shows you how to improve up your workflow by compositing elements in a virtual 3D space with reflections and glow elements, without leaving the Final Cut timeline. He emailed us saying "Why don't you show some of my tutorials". So we are.
As much as we love our Canon 5D, you would not want to shoot a documentary on the history of lace with it. Why? The dreaded moiré striping effects you can see above on the left hand side example. However you might have a couple of plugins installed already that will fix the problem.
Eyeheight have released complianceSuiteFC - a set of professional broadcast filter and generator plug-ins for Apple Final Cut Studio and Final Cut Express. The idea is that this package takes care of all your compliance issues, but with a retail price of £695, or £795 for sister product KARMaudioAU it seems a little bit outside the normal price range of the FCP eco system. More after the break.
Jorgen Escher made this FCP plugin in a response to a cry for help from Marvels Film. The plugin has been designed to battle the disturbing problem of micro-moiré which appeared after a Canon 5D MkII shoot. Micro-moiré manifests itself as red/blue color streaks and pixels that appear in natural and irregular patterns, such as hair, water and grass. Download details after the break.
A brand new plugin from the people who bought you Motype and Nodes. Yanobox today released 'Barcode' a free generator for Final Cut Pro, Motion, After Effects and Final Cut Express which lets you generate and animate EAN 13 barcodes, with unique and unexpected results. (Updated 15/2/11 Tutorial posted)
Here's a whole bundle of free plugins from CoreMelt.
There are many ways to use Canon DSLR footage in FCP ranging from native file editing, transcoding with Compressor to plugins. In fact there are people out there selling tutorials on how to do it! Download the official workflow white papers from Canon to get it right and maybe save some time and money.
Noise Industries have announced the release of free plugin Manifesto 1.0, which comes in two variants: a static title generator and a title roll/crawl generator, and it's infinitely more powerful than the native title generator in FCP. FX Factory has also had an update. More after the break.
We thought Conduit was dead, how wrong we were. This $199 plugin from DV Garage is on its second version and now works inside FCP, Motion, After Effects and Photoshop. In this video Kevin Hansen shows Mark Spencer how to pull and then refine a key using the plugin. If you have ever had trouble with chromakeying or greenscreen then this might be just what you need. More info including links to a free 3D plugin after the break.
