Hi everyone ,

Not sure why I am struggling to find this or how to do it -- but is there not a simple plugin that allows you to show text

Word at a time ? There is word fade but , I don't want a fade , I just want a paragraph of text to display on word at a time .

Trying to avoid doing it all by hand :(

Thank you for any help greatly appreciated !!

There are several that wold normally allows you to select it to appear by letter, word, or paragraph. I'd scan the free template section here. Or create your own in Motion with the Text behavior "Pop In" will let you configure this behavior. There's some others what will achieve it. I'm sure someone here will actually know a specific template here. I just don't know one off the top of my head at the moment.

that is a simple one, because one of the best kept secrets in Final Cut, for years, is the CUSTOM title (in the regular Titles tab)

When you open its published parameters in the Inspector …

… you get an overwhelming amount of knobs to play with.
So, for your task:
set In Opacity to 0
Unit Size to Word

done, no step#3 ;)

Hey !!

Thank you so much that is extremely helpful. I have never used that before.

One question - I am trying to get a hard word in [ without fading between words ] like

Reveal by word

but each word just appears hard without the fade in.

Is that possible? I couldn't figure it out with the tweaking.

Thanks!

This is controlled with the In-Spread, which comes preset to 1% - which gives a slight fade-in. Drag it to zero and each word jumps-in …

What do you mean by 'keyframe text'`?
All those parameters in that Inspector can be keyframed, for sure …

Maybe not in a 'living project', but in some test-project meant only for the trash-can, I'd recommend to 'play' with the many settings and options… for instance a 'blur-in' gives titles a huge entrance. Try diff. settings forIn and Out. Or, a longer text can appear line by line, combine that with some 'movements/keyframes' in the video-settings of that title generator…

… endless options. Just try.
