This is my first time creating a generator. Please, if you get a moment, try it out and let me know what you think. The link to download it is in the description of the vimeo video, but I'll also attach it here in this post.

It's basically just an overlay to make it look like your video is being recorded on an iPhone. You can choose to have the different icons on the bottom left of the screen to display '4K', '720P', or '60 FPS' or nothing. There's two different generators. One is for 30fps timelines and one is for 60fps timelines (so that the time code generator works properly on the timeline).

Again, let me know what you think. Good and negative comments are appreciated!

Very nice...thank you. The only suggestion I could think of was to perhaps add a published option for non-drop frame timecode as well as adding a starting point for a specific timecode that would free run, but this is not really an issue. The generator works great just as you have designed it. Any other modifications would only change it from appearing as an actual iPhone recording screen, so you did very well.
Creating history....one edit at a time !

.... don't get me wrong - my first plugin was just a yelllow line... yours is a nice start, but... ;)
allow me a few remarks:

• the camera overlay on my iPad looks quite different, more complex.... maybe, my iOS is not latest...
• me right handed - prefer my record button on the other side; and what about - realism!! - a vertical layout? A nice rig allowing all three layouts would be nice
• you're using Helvetice Neue for the res box, but Helvetica for the timer... and isn't the iOS font SanFrancisco anyhow?
• when you lengthen/shorten the generator, die blinking speed varies - set mandatory and/or loop markers into the timeline..

Thanks! And the non-drop frame shouldn't be an issue. I'm making my list of things to add and that's on it. The timecode one might be tricky, but seems helpful, so it'll be fun just trying to get that to work as well!

thanks for the feedback!!

1. What version are you using on iPad? I didn't even think of this, so i went right to my ipad and noticed it's a different look! So that's something to add. My iPad actually had less things on it. It just had the record button and the running time, with no black box behind the time. I am just going for the look of while you're recording, not before you record. Before you record it has LOTS of options, which could be a good thing for me to work up to though!

2. Switching the record button and all other buttons to the other side should be easy! I always go to one side and forget that it rotates how you're holding it. and I vertical layout will be fun to do! that's going on my list for sure! TRUE realism!

3. Good call! I just looked into it and they actually don't have SanFrancisco preinstalled on El Capitan (10.11.4), so I'm going to have to see if it's a free download, and if it is, maybe link to that for the download so the users have that as well for it to work.

4. I've got the blinking dot set to an Oscillate Behavior, so i'll try and look into another way of doing that to where it's not focused on speed so it 'behaves' better.

Thanks again for your comments and suggestions! This won't be my last generator I work on, but I do want to do as much as I can to improve on this first one as much as possible!

UPDATE v2:

With comments and suggestions made, I've updated the generator to have the following additional features...

1. Now includes VERTICAL MODE! Great for those videos that were recorded the wrong way!
2. Slider to adjust the speed of the blinking red record light
3. Option to choose Left Handed layout or Right Handed layout, depending on how you normally hold your phone to record video.
4. Timecode Base. Default is set to current project, but you can change it to force it to match any frame rate you're working with.
5. Timecode Offset. You can now advance the time in the timecode so your video starts with a later time. Still not able to adjust it to go backwards, so if you want your generator in the middle of a project, but what it to start with a zero on the running clock, create it first in a compound clip, then add it back into your project wherever you'd like. This is still an issue I want to resolve and make easier, but until then....
