Using Speedscriber and the project I'm using has already got a 20sec clip with captions which has been previously imported.
I have 5 other short interviews within the project that I want to create captions for. The first one starts at 48sec in the project. If I export that section as a MOV to import into SS and then import the .itt file back into FCPX the captions import at the start of the project instead of syncing with TC of the project. Is there a way to make sure the captions come in at the correct point in the project?

More or less wrong approach (or idea).
If you need something like this you always need to export the whole project up to the clip you want to use with the other clips prior to this one disabled.
Other option:
Import your itt into a new project, add a new empty caption at 0 (if there is none), select all captions, go to your original project and the start of the clip and paste. Delete the empty one.

I was going to export the whole project (unto the desired clip) however then I'll be uploading unwanted and billed minutes to SS so wanted to export only the needed clips and thus cost more time and effort.

There is no point creating a new project I've just worked with the way SS is working and every individual .itt file is coming in at 0 and I'm just manually dragging the captions to where the clips are. I just thought that SS would be able to recognise the TC of where the clip is in the project timeline and import. I thought this because when you import the .itt files the Finder gives you the option to 'Insert' relative to the timeline.

You probably misunderstood.
The new project is an intermediate one to handle partial/multiple caption imports.
If you proceed you way you may end up with different roles to merge or accidentally deleting captions.

No I understand just easier importing them into the same project on this occasion because I have to then make my own custom version in requested text.
I have actually been importing them into their own Roles and works OK but do hope one day through an update SS enables to place relative to where they are in the timeline though.
