Is there any sound effects or something like that that only go with iMovie? Or can I happily delete it and save 2.8gb of disk space? PS - iMovie just got updated, that's how I realised I had it on my computer

Yes, it has extra content unique to it, but if you don't use it, you don't use it. I use it on my phone and iPad often to do string-outs and such, then take that into FCPX for the heavy work. My kids use it. Wife does a gardening blog with it on her iiPhone.
