I have a bunch of old clips, that probably will not be supported in a near future of FCPX.

Today, when importing them, FCPX creates a new file with [ORIGINAL_NAME]_converted.[TYPE] and places it in the library.

I have two issues with this.
1. I have media in "original place" and not Library. Create source files outside the source folder, is a big no-no.
2. The content creation date goes bananas, and suddenly it's when the conversion was done.

Does anyone have a work-around?

What is the format of your old clips?

The format is a mixture of codecs in old containers. I don't mind to change them to ProRes or some other format.
I'm a bit concerned with the tossing around of source files and creation dates.

My current workaround is to manually pull them from the FCPX Libraries and use "touch" in terminal to revert to the old creation date.
