Hi guys

Where do I even start! 2 weeks ago I updated my MacOS to Mojave. I was using High Sierra before that and everything was working fine. I never like to update to a new OS straight away, so I figured that waiting a good 6 months might prevent there being any software issues with the new OS. I think I was wrong.

Once I updated to Mojave, FCP wasn't compatible and it asked me to update to the newest version of FCP. I did...

Problems:

I use Sony HDV-Z1 cameras (yes I know they are old), and now FCP really plays up when I try to import (capture) from the camera. I've been doing this for years and it's always worked perfectly. Now though, it 'jumps' and cuts out, all the time. So I'm unable to capture.

Video footage that I do have on my iMac, is also not working properly on FCP. EVERY TIME I use the blade on the Timeline, I get the dreaded beachball and sometimes takes what seems like minutes to play the video. It's doing this every single time I press the space bar or use the Blade tool. Again, this has only happened since updating to Mojave.

When I finally do manage to edit a video, and I go ahead to export it, the exported video appears to be interlaced, this is something I am not familiar with, as I've never had a problem with it before (been using the FCP series of software since 2009). My exports are now full of lines and look awful. I have tried changing the settings in the Export option but every single one is the same.

I have a powerful iMac, I would say?

I am literally pulling my hair out, as my job requires me to edit and export videos on a weekly basis. This is driving me nuts. I really hope someone can help me or advise me!?
