Im not sure whether this is possible, but here goes. I have a project in which I want to add a cherry blossom swaying slowing in the breeze on the introduction. Problem is that the clip is only 12 sec and I want it be longer in order to use opening text. The file is 24m so I cant upload here to show you. I have tried duplicating the clip in the timeline but get a "black flash" between the clips Is there anyway where you can join the two 12 sec clips into one in Final Cut Pro X or any other program that would do the trick. I have exhausted the handles so cant just extend the clip as normal. Hope I am making sense!!!! e.g. I want a 24 sec clip (or there abouts).

Thanking you in advance.

The black flash could be possible if the original clip fades out at the end. If that is the case, duplicate the clip and stack the second copy above the first with the beginning of the second clip a few frames before the first clip ends. - (just enough to cover the fade out)- or trim the original clip to remove the fade before you duplicate it. If your original clip is not fading out, then maybe post a screenshot of your timeline with the (2) 12 sec clips so we can better see what you are doing. You can also retime or slow the original 12 second clip to make it longer if you can accept the slowed playback for your intro.

Thank you for your suggestions. I include the two screenshors as you suggested. I have also tried changing the length of the clips but guess that because there is no margin for that that it rules out that possibility. I couldnt manage that. I have also taken two mp4 files of what is happening to show you, but Im not sure of how big a file we are able to upload to the forum. Both of them are round about 9mb at the very smallest which I could make them.

Looking forward to some other suggestions as I would dearly like to use this clip as an introduction and 12sec is a little too short for the effect which I am after. Maybe I am expecting the impossilbe???

I don't see a black flash on the clips you uploaded. If you zoom in with CMD and plus key, then position the playhead on the last frame of the first clip, you will see a grey translucent "last frame" overlay in the viewer verifying it is the last frame. Then step forward one frame to the first frame of the second clip. You will a similar overlay on the opposite side verifying it is the first frame. Using the JKL keys is an easy way to step forward/backward one frame at a time: support.apple.com/kb/PH12779?locale=en_US&viewlocale=en_US

Is either adjacent frame really black? If not, you are not seeing a black flash but a sudden jump in the object's position.

If you are actually seeing a jump in the object's position that is expected. You can fix this by reversing the direction of the 2nd clip. That way it will play backwards but that won't matter for this subject. The first frame of the second clip will then seamlessly match the last frame of the first clip.

To do this, select the 2nd clip and pick Modify>Retime>Reverse Clip.

Once again thank you everybody for your help. Your right! No "black flash", just the very short jump between the clips. I tried adding a 1sec transtiion between the clips but that still didnt provide the effect which I was after. In short, I went for the slowing down of the first clip and deleting the second. Perfect for my needs. Still learning FCP X so didnt know about that possibility nor the function of that dropdown.

Thank you everybody once again. Many lessons learnt.

:)
