Folks, I need some recommendations on subtitle apps or help with one I've used before that doesn't seem to be doing what I want.
Subtitles were done on a site called subtitle-horse and in the past I have had no problems getting .srt and vtt files from that site, using Spherico XTI to bring them into FCP X. However the old XTI before Mojave launches with scripting errors and the Mojave version (a lite version) doesn't convert anything past 10 minutes. I can't find a full version alternative.
Before I go buying an app like FinalSRT which there's no demo of, do any of you have any suggestions?

If I understand you want to use the SRT fiLe to generate keyed title and not to import as closed captions . FinalSRT Does exactly this and very well, I have used it a lot and it behaves and is used tha same way as XTI.
Hope this helps.

I had some problems when bringing them in as captions because I wasn't able to reposition some that needed to fit in the safe zones. They can be regular titles too if need be.

FinalSRT Only does translate the SRT file into a series of tiles according to the first title in the timeline that was exported as fcpxml then export a new fcpxlm that once reimported does a new timeline with titles.

A little note:
While FinalSRT works fine it doesn't have any options for mixed styles, colors etc.
Beside more import options XTI additionally has a pretty good editor and some search and quality check options.

I just found it. I think what threw me off is the donate button...thinking that I had to find a "buy" button in order to get a serial number. I donated.
