Hi Guys,

I hope to find a solution here by Monday since time is critical.
We send most of our Big projects out to get Colored by a Colorist post house.
So the issues we have and can't figure out is that an XML from FCPX in Resolve the Compound and Group Clips not having a file path and no media linked. This has happened almost in all XML from FCPX but not from Premiere.

Anybody else having a similar issue and is there a fix? It is a bit disappointing since many have mentioned how well they work together.

Thanks for any help

What version of Resolve are you guys using? And if they're not linking, can't you just relink in Resolve, save it, then export the project to your colorist? What version of xml are you exporting from FCPX?

One other thing to try in Resolve is to import the clips into the media pool FIRST, and then import the xml. Then, there are still some things that you need to bake in or you're going to have some trouble. If you have speed ramps by blading speed on a compound clip, for example, you may have to bake in those effects before generating your xml. You also may have trouble with very complicated compound clips (like compound clips within compound clips). It's best to break these apart or bake in whatever's being done in those compounds. Overall, though, group clips and compound clips SHOULD be working. Unfortunately it's hard to say what's happening without knowing different things like the version of Resolve and xml.

Thanks for the feedback.

I guess that would be possible to send them a Resolve file but doesn't that beat the purpose of having XML which they both suppose to work together so well?

Resolve I can't say but the XML is the standard latest version from FCPX. It looks like all the Multicam clips are not relinking and some of the Scenes are merged in one Clip this could be the Group clips in FCPX.

I might get more info on Monday, waiting for feedback from the Colorist.
It was resolved by exporting a ProRes file which was cut up and graded. Too bad the roundtripping didn't work so they could have used the RAW footage.
