I might be needing DCP version of my film. I can't spend that much money on making one.
Is this possible?
Also, I will have no possibility to check it out. So how do I know it's good?

Thanks

You can use DCP-o-Matic to make a DCP. It does a good job. I'm not sitting in front of it right now so I can't tell you what settings to use. But if I recall it puts everything in a folder that the server won't recognize until you remove it. This may have been fixed in newer versions

DCP is much better than trying to play Blu-rays. I wholeheartedly recommend the format for proper theatrical exhibition. There's no way to play a DCP except from a cinema server to my knowledge. There might be some apps out there though.

Indeed, that is what I'm wondering about: how to check it out.
I will be looking for a place to screen it.

Thanks.

www.easydcp.com has a Pay as you go offer, and its pretty good, the only thing is that you will need a hard-drive formatted to Ext3 or NTFS (some servers only accept Ext3) and for that you will need paragon software. Unless the festival has a direct upload option.

Hope this helps!

Any worthwhile exhibitor will ingest to the local server. Playback from external drives cannot be trusted. Make sure your USB stick or whatever is formatted to ExFAT though so it can be seen, NTFS is fine, too.

Made the DCP with Free DCP and should be able to check it out.
Wondering how big a DCP should be on a 20 minute DOC.

The whole folder is 29 Go.
ProRes is 33,63 Go

What is 29 Go? Do you mean 29 GB? DCP is JPEG2000. It's pretty big.

Sorry.
GB is Go in french.

Thanks. So it is normal for it to be big.

You can watch and try out your DCP playout with easyDCP Player. Go to their site, download and without buying the software you can watch 15 seconds for free. Than you have at least an impression of how your film will look like. www.easydcp.com

That's the point I don't want an impression.
I will manage to have it played on the proper gear.
I will try it so I will be able to compare the results.

Thanks
