Of course Apple has taking the route of not saying a thing about certain aspects, and that is their right to do so, it frustrates us as the consumer of their products that changes are being made that affect us, and we are not given any reasons.

Why Apple has chosen this route make no sense, surely be open about it, but to just state it is an OS issue is not the truth, there are ways around this, it is of great concern that Apple has decided barely 30 years into "digital" we are not going to support certain codecs, 30 years is a long time, but is it really?

How is this demand or lack thereof determined? Only looking at users in the US or Europe? What about Asia, India, Africa? What do users there use? MumbaiWood in India, Nollywood in Nigeria, who together produce more feet per year of film than Snottywood out in California does in a decade.

What is legacy in New York in 2018 is new stock in Mumbai or Lagos, or Cape Town in South Africa, costs of gear is high, and so replacements are not often replaced with new, but new old stock, FACT!

Broadcasters still use classic FCP and make it work, replacement programmes are just too expensive, and anyway if it works, why replace it?

So what is behind this sudden need to render obsolete? If it is a OS issue, then create a sandbox 32bit in a 64bit app, kind of a "dos box" parrallels/Oracle app that runs old codecs on top of a 64bit OS such as Mojave or whatever comes next!

It would sell and I am sure sell well, you buy for $99 or $199 the app, and for say $49, $99 depending on age of the OS old versions of MAC OS going back to version 1.0 , and for $29 per version, buy the version of final cut you need. This takes care of all future codec issues, it will come that one day in the next decade someone will need a way to access an old codec for whatever reason and damn locked out.

Sorry if this offends, I truly think this is a good idea, I would buy old versions, many I know would as thye have archives built up over decades and then one day locked out.

I am not saying MAC OS should support it, no, that is stupid and it just makes the OS bloaty and ineffective, a sandbox app is lightweight, it runs on top of the OS, and it comes preset with the codec you need, or could be installed with purchased codecs. The codecs are not upgraded, updated, static stand alone, nothing done to then other than parked on a server waiting to be sold...

… after we now and again know in extenso, what a few members of this board would think or dream or believe or assume what FCPX or the business company Apple in its entity should or could or will do, can we now please come back to the topic of this thread?

Thank you!

LOVING the quick font locate function.
Can't wait to see what other Workflow extensions are in the pipeline too. If frame.io is anything to go by, we're in for a treat!

I always was neglectful about audio. So what I would like to see is a video of this:

How do extensions work? Didn't look into it. Wouldn't it be nice to extend audio capabilities with Logic?

Redifer you talk (write actually ) like the typical Apple hater with all the pathetic "clichés" ... I stand critical too when it comes to that firm but your kind of thinking is toxic, so embittered...

Sorry Stu how is Redifer an Apple hater?

I am not in any way an Apple hater, just extremely critical of industrial design decisions, and the poor attention paid to this aspect of design. I question the decision to abandon 17in laptops, the size would make it a video editing beast in 2018, many internal drives, max out ram, 64GB would be possible, look at the mac mini...with a couple of ports, etc..

A mac mini with a built in screen, keyboard, portable...why not?? I love the way FCPX works, great idea, let down by silly quirks and failure to fix minor faults, ie the ability to zoom in/out in listview mode.

This does not qualify me as an Apple hater, being critical is healthy and I will not back down on this!! EVER!!!

If you feel Apple isn't addressing a particular feature you can submit with feedback from the app - something that they've been shown to be paying attention to. They don't read forums. Shouting at other people who aren't responsible for software decisions is tiresome and unproductive. Alternatively, if anyone feels like ranting about Apple nothing is stopping you from starting another thread where you can post as many times as you like.

This thread is about the new release of FCPX - and about new features and how they work, etc. Presumably.

I wasn't sure whether your question was about being able to be critical about Apple in general or about Apple with regards to 10.4.4.

Okay, I'll ask you a different question.

What do you really like about 10.4.4?

Hey I am not the one with the comprehension issue....I understood the question the 1st time round, and replied with a very intelligent reply, that was sadly it seems a bit too above certain level of comprehension. I am not responsible for that lack of comprehension by a user.

Damian would you like me to explain my comprehension of the 1st question and explain my reply in simpler terms?? I can do that if it helps....Might be a bit long...

Nope sorry, you would not understand...Damian why are you so addicted to copy paste my entire post? it shows a lack of thought on your behalf, and it is just annoying.

I have already discussed aspects of 10.4.4, do I like all of it no.. My views are well established, take the time to read my previous posts...and lay off the copy paste...
