Hi all,

Just wondering what I am doing wrong. I created a synchronised clip from multiple video clips, of which one has the base audio. Apart from the problems FCPX sometimes has to sync in the first place, I get it sort of working. When the synced clip is open I can play it with no problem. If I want to put it on the time line, however, it appears the audio is muted and the audio wave form is gone, Is there a way to prevent this ?

Did you make a sync clip or a multicam clip? Sync is for one video and separate audio. Multicam is for multiple video clips.

Hi Tom,

I used the "synchronise clips" option and used the audio to base the sync on

OK, I found out why the audio is not there, I think. In the "synchronise clips" dialogue I have checked the option to disable the audio components on AV clips. Funny enough, none of the clips that make up the synced clip, has its audio disabled. So apparently it is only the resulting synced clip that has its audio disabled.
I'd hate to re-create all the synced clips so how on earth do I re-enable the audio ???

You do not use the sync clip function when combining multiple video files. This is incorrect. You need to use the multicam function.

Sorry Tom, you are incorrect. It works fine, but the "disable audio components" option is killing/ It leaves the resulting video without audio and I don't see a way of getting it back, except redoing the syncing.....

Don’t know what you’re trying to do with a multivideo file sync clip, but if you open the sync clip in the timeline you can access the audio components and switch them on in audio configuration.

I have a continuous video + sound and several separate video shots. I want to create one single video from that and use the audio from the continuous video as the basis. To position the other shots correctly audio sync is an ideal option.

I do not see an option in the audio configuration to switch the audio on or of. Editing the synced clip is showing and playing the audio fine. It is only when I want to move it into the time line, that the audio is disabled. Found no way to get it back other than recreate the synced clip, now without the option to disable the audio components

Well, finally found how to enable the audio. Selecting the synced clip (not opening it) and click the check box in the audio configuration several times. When selecting the clip., the audio is showing as enabled (but it isn't) then unchecking it and re-checking it will finally enable the audio.
