is that a known bug too that in the "clip browser" in case you group the files based on eg. "Band" next time you open the event again you need to make the selection again and as such "grouping" isnÄt saved ?

It's known, but meanwhile I doubt that it's a bug, it's more like a consequent feature. Like the one thumbnail per clip ("All" = Alles) that jumps back to 30 seconds next time you activate the browser (complained about this in another thread).

I wondered why this happens. There are no custom posterframes in FCP X, as imo there should be optionally. But since it is not a thumbnail view, but a filmstrip view, "All" don't give you sufficient visual feedback. But a thumbnail every 30 seconds usually does, so this is quite reasonably the default. As are the grouping/sorting principles you mentioned. The default ones are the ones most people use.

You can make these things change with custom keyboard shortcuts. Not from within FCP X, but from system preferences. I tell you the path in german. You go to >FinalCutPro >Darstellung >Übersicht >Clips gruppieren nach ... and Clips sortieren nach ... and write down the *exact* name of the command behind the arrows you want to make a shortcut of.

An example: I often record audio externally, and I like to see video and audio recorded at the same minute (camera resp. recorder clock) side by side (filmstrip view) or beneath each other (list view). I can then easier find the corresponding ones to synchronize or multicam them. So I need to group them by Inhalt: Erstellt am (sic!). I write this down. Then I go to system preferences (FCP X may remain opened) >Tastatur >Kurzbefehle >App-Kurzbefehle. Then i hit the "+" sign, choose FinalCutPro, type Inhalt: Erstellt am and a free shortcut, choose Hinzufügen, and that's it. Every menu command can also be made into a keyboard shortcut this way.

Thanks Alex!

at the beginning I made the mistake to type the whole sequence instead of just the last one "Band" ;-)))
