Hi Guys,

Can anyone could help me please?

I filmed a music gig the other night. I used 4 cameras (2x 700D left side & crane , 60D right side & 5D mk4 (wide). The music has been recorded & sent to me as AIXY file.

Previously I have achieved this through importing the clips into FXPX, naming them 'cam 1, cam2, audio ect' in the info tab on the inspector, selected them & then clicked 'new multicam'. I have made sure audio is to be synchronised (tick box), then let FXPC do its thing! Normally works a treat - I go into the MC video, pop it into my timeline and everything is on point. However last night, I followed the same steps (several times) and was horrified to find the audio (Aixy) at the start of the timeline, way out of sync. I kept deleting, starting again, logging off, shutting down, restarting but eventually gave up at the 10th attempt.

I don't know what's happened & why the audio isn't syncing. The other clips seems to have synced, it's just file I can't get to play ball.

Can anyone help please?

Thank you in advance
Danny

I assume you mean AIFF file? Cause I've no clue what an AIXY files is.

Can you provide a screen shot of the mis-aligned Multiclip in the Angle Editor (double-click it in the Browser)?

Let's see, things that could go wrong. I'm going to cover the very basics, which may (or probably don't) pertain to your specific situation, just to be sure we cover our bases.

First, give clips for each camera the same Angle Name in the Inspector. That assures you things will assemble into the proper lanes. Like all 700D clips, give an Angle Name of 700D. You can also use Camera Name to do this, either way. Camera Name of Angle Name. FCPX in automatic modes looks at these first. The actual clip name won't really matter much.

Next, verify the audio quality the camera's got is good enough for FCPX to use. If there's too much background noise, FCPX may not be able to distinguish what's what.

Again, no clue what an AIXY file is. I've seen AIX files on Windows systems, and they're totally useless to a Mac.

If automatic mode won't work, fill in the Angle Name in the Inspector for each clip and try configuring the Multicam clip manually.

Did you by any chance slate audio/video? If so, you could go in and place a marker at slate point and manually line things up or use fc's sync by marker.

Also is your audio 48KHz, not 44KHz. All camras running at same frame rate i.e 1920x1080 30p?

One thing I hope is that each camera had some reference sound being recorded at time of video capture.

hmm, what for?
creating here Multicams successfully with a crude mix of source material (=hobbyist, shoestring budget, using ANY cam I can get = mixed fps, mixed audio sample rates, mixed res) => works like charm, for years.

those 'stray angles' usually happen here, when a) timestamp is not set close to reality (you won't believe how many HDvideo I did in 1972…) and Angle-Synchronisation is set to 'Automatic' …

Fix the timecode (menu bar ,Modify/Adjust Content…), or:
Find in all Angles a synch-point (a clap, a flash, a laugh, lightsOn/Off, wotever), set a Marker, create a MC, set Angle Synch 'by Marker' and, optional check 'by Audio' ....
