One annoyance I have with texting generators such as PixelFilmStudios ProMessage and Industrial Revolution Messages is that [currently] the only way to have the generators sit properly on the video frame is to convert them into compound clips.

For those who know more about the workings of Motion and FCP X, is this due to the architecture of Motion and how it works with FCPX? Since one message affects subsequent ones as they move up the screen, is the notion of one day not having to create compound clips to achieve the same result not even possible because of the way Motion/FCP X handles text generators.

as a plug-in maker, I'd response like a lawyer … "it depends" ;)

No, attached a Title Generator (of the most silly kind) in two versions:

As you can see: one version affects the bg when using the TransformTool on the Title, the other not.
Magic? No, just a check-box in Motion:

When the background layer/dropzone is part of the Title Generator, any transform happens to underlying clips too....

… why Apple gives that as 'preset' or why plugins makers keep that setting? I don't know …

A workaround for this is to use the Behind blend mode. Build the title underneath the video and apply Behind to the video that's on top.
