Tim Dashwood demo'ed that at NAB yesterday. Super easy, super simple, faster than on any other NLE, actually been around for a bit. So he beat everyone to that, just like he did with 3D editing, again. Check out the Dashwood 360VR plugins, FxFactory.

YouTube is now allowing 360 videos.

Sometimes I find them interesting for some things like seeing the inside of houses or boats, etc… Lets you look around. Not sure I'd want a regular video with a story line be 360 unless in iMAX theatre in the Round.

Hope this helps, Greg

There are flat editing advantages, too. One camera in the middle of an action scene, you can rotate it to cut between angles without multi am, or keys ram those angle pivots. Tom Dashwood did say in his seminar yesterday that he felt FCPX was the most efficient NLE for this work. Now, for the pice of pro quality cameras to come done....

I did my first award winning 360 degree movie in 1998. In the following years I finished many of those in collaboration with the German ZKM and Geoffrey Shaw.
All cameras were developed by me, also the first versions of the software. The following versions were developed in collaboration with the ZKM. The last version I build had a final downsized res of 4k by 4k for 360/340

Was a long story which ended up real bad for me.

Anyway I won 2 additional awards - which were(are) totally useless.
Setting up the cameras is a kind of challenge. Working with Twixtor and the material was a super challange. Editing was real fun once I figured out how to do real "Dollies".

The last art project was for the city of Melbourne. We used 16 cams. For each cam we had about 120 min of material recorded in DV codec.
Logging was done in a "3/4 circle desk with a hole in the middle". The logging results were captured into a FMP data base using scene/take as master and screen captures, notes and TC.
My people then captured those needed clips with FCP and a batchlist generated by FMP. Notes were converted to markes.
The results were used to create rough cuts for all scenes (no stitchind, just a simple blending). These ere used to create half res movie for control and final editing.
At the end the FMP database was updated with the final log notes.
The process started again with "real data". Once finished the material was hardware converted to uncompressed using custom hardware.

This whole process is kind of easy with actual hard- and software. The steps are more or less the same for a serious production.

Alex Gollner showed some screen shots from the Daswood app - VERY COOL.

I have a possibility of a client wanting a 360 shot at the end of July.. Has 360o editing on FCP evolved much this year?

Also, anyone bought a 360o video camera and can recommend?
