Tell me what you all think of this, would it help you, or am I alone in this need?

I want a function in FCPX for writing commercial scripts. I’d like to pull up my "script editor" in the Inspector in it's own window. Or even a floating window would work. Bare bones basic text editor, where I can write a TV commercial script or promo while play back the video in the Timeline. I can practice it while video is rolling, edit, get it polished, then record with the VO recording tool while watching the video to get it timed properly.

I currently jump between Pages and FCPX a lot when doing TV commercials. I know, most spots start with a script, then you build visuals. But that’s becoming less and less the norm for me.

I have more and more clients handing me visuals, demanding specific visuals and text on the screen. I am more and more having to write the script around the visuals. Maybe I’m the only one doing this, but it’d be a great feature.

Even to just make production notes it would be handy.

Wonder if someone could make a plug-in to do this?

That would be very nice. I see this however as a "workflow extension" that would do everything you mention and that could also act as a prompter and maybe linkable to and iPad for VO from a boot.... one can dream.

cheers

Ah, I did not think about that. Yes, this could be super handy for promotional and commercial work. Nice idea Francois.
