Can anyone sassiest an alternative to Compressor? It has just become too problematic to use and is costing me time & money hanging or simply failing to convert.

I have access to Adobe media encoder...are there any other alternatives?

Hey there,

I have worked a lot with MPEG Streamclip and still do it for special occasions.
www.squared5.com/

The interface looks a bit outdated, but for me it´s a kind of Swiss Army knife when it comes to special video formats for projection software that runs on windows..

It´s free, so all you can loose is time when you check it out :)

Greetings

Mario

I use Compressor daily and love it. What sort of issues are you having? If you have access to Media Encoder, give it a spin. As to alternatives, each has pros and cons. What sort of transcoding do you need done?

Use Digital Rebellion Compressor Repair for any oddities.

Compressor is the most solid, reliable tool. I'd stick with it.

From my experience Compressor is a solid Application, I have here better results vs media encoder.
But that said Compressor is still behind when it comes to its feature set.

What are the error messages, maybe we can assist you?

Telestream Flip is subscription based and starts at $99 USD per month. I don't consider that an alternative to Compressor, I consider that very much enterprise-level post-production. Not sure how many of us could afford $99/month for transcoding.

Hey all...thanks for the input...The problem is baffling. I do all sorts of encoding from long form training films to short social medial stuff...in mostly 4K but still some 1080P. I have 4 production iMacs...the main workstation is an iMac Pro (3 Ghz
+ Intel Zeon W, 64GB Ram , 10 Core etc),

Compressor simply does not seem to like this machine. Sometimes it works fine. Other times it will hang just before it finishes processing. The time counter keeps going but processing has clearly stopped. Other times is will create the compressed video but that video will just freeze at some point...useless. I have done all the standard repair steps...s[ent more time that I care to think about with Apple Pro Apps support (and they are baffled). I have trashed and clean reinstalled the app lots of times.

The real killer? If I use compressor on any of my other machines it works fine. So sure I can drop the master file onto a transfer drive to do it on another machine but who needs that nonsense. The is killing my workflow.

Thoughts?

What software is installed on the problematic Mac that isn't on the others? What peripherals? 3rd party plugins?
