Walter Biscardi has been working with FCP for quite some time now and you might recognise the name from industry forums and articles he's published. He knows his stuff. So we were very pleased when we found out he had just posted a quick FCP tutorial on how to read the built in 'scopes more easily. Very cool if you do a lot of colour correction.
If you are an editor on any system, the non-linears or even tape, there are certain comments or phrases from clients that will strike terror in you immediately. Luckily we don't have the rhetorical, "Do you mind if I smoke?" anymore, but there are plenty more to ruin what would have been a lovely calm edit...
Rick Young from MacVideo has put together all of his tips and tricks into one book called "Rick's Tips, Inside the Mind of an Editor." It is available in print or electronically for your iPad/iPhone/iPod.
I think Wes gets these tutorials just about right. It's not because he gives us a name check at front, but the fact that the first thing he does is show you the finished result. Other tutorial makers please note!
