We have come across many rigs ever since the 5D sparked the huge interest in shooting on a DSLR. This one from Edelkrone is slightly different as the name suggests.
If there is one thing as popular as shooting on a DSLR, then it's third parties trying to cash in by selling custom rigs to get round the camera's awful ergonomics.
Many users thought they couldn't shoot unless they purchased an expensive highly engineered rig from companies that normally supply the motion picture business. The situation was summed up brilliantly in this video from Terron Brown and Clayton Aiello.
Then we saw The Pocket Rig from Endelkrone and it changed our opinion on the need for rigs again. It's small but functional as this video demonstrates.
The heavy iron from the big rig manufacturers is expensive, The Pocket Rig sells for about $500 which is less than half of some of its competitors. You can't put those in your pocket either. Should you want a larger all singing and dancing version, then Edelkrone also produce the Modula series, but then they start to look like Terron & Clayton's brilliant rig.
Oh and don't be in a rush to change a battery...
